TP/SL

Take profit and stop loss: close a position automatically at your target, incl. break-even stop.

Take profit and stop loss close your position automatically at a target price. You can add them when you open a position, or later from the Positions tab.

  • Full position: the TP/SL applies to the whole position.
  • Partial position: the TP/SL applies to a set quantity.

A position can have one full-position TP/SL. It can hold a take profit, a stop loss or both, but only if you set them together. When you drag a TP or SL on the chart at 100%, SigSig places it as a full-position TP/SL. If one already exists without that side, the new order is placed as a partial TP/SL for your current position size, and the dialog tells you so. That is only the name: at 100% it still closes your whole current position.

  • With a new order: switch on TP/SL in the order panel and enter the take profit and / or stop loss, as a price or as an offset in %. They are placed together with your order. This works for market, limit and scaled orders (on a scaled order, every single order gets its own TP/SL).
  • On the chart: drag the TP or SL box from your position line to the price you want and confirm. On a phone, a lock sits in front of TP: tap TP or SL once, the lock turns into ↕, then drag it up or down. A TP or SL you have set moves the same way. While you drag, the label shows the estimated PnL at that price, also when you move a TP or SL you have already set.
  • Already have one? Dragging the TP or SL box then moves your existing take profit or stop loss to where you drop it, without a second order and without the dialog. This applies to a full-position TP/SL, or to a single partial one. With several partial ones, the box places a new order as before.
  • Later, in Positions: click the TP/SL column of the position and use Add.

SigSig shows all TP/SL orders of a position in one list, no matter whether they are full-position or partial:

  • Positions tab, TP/SL column: every take profit and stop loss of the position, stacked: TP – 84,366 / SL – 83,842.2. If an order covers only part of the position, its share is shown next to it, for example 40%. Click the column to open the TP/SL details.
  • TP/SL details: one list with type (TP or SL), quantity, % of the position, trigger, price and estimated PnL. Click a row to edit that order, use Add for another one, Cancel all removes all TP/SL orders of the position.
  • TP/SL tab: the quantity of every order (for full-position orders the current position size) and a Position column with the share of the position.

Shares are shown as whole percents when the only difference comes from rounding the quantity to the market’s smallest step (80 % of 0.00189 BTC is placed as 0.00151 BTC).

No. All TP/SL orders are reduce-only: they can only make your position smaller or close it, never open or increase one. A full-position TP/SL always closes whatever is left of the position. A partial one closes at most the remaining size; the rest is cancelled. When your position is closed, its remaining TP/SL orders are cancelled.

TP/SL orders trigger on the mark price and execute as market orders by default.

Once a position is in profit, you can move its stop loss to break-even straight from the chart, so the trade can no longer lose money.

  1. Next to the TP and SL boxes of your position on the chart, click the white BE box.
  2. A line appears at the break-even price. It reads BE ✎ | ✕ ✓: ✎ opens the break-even settings, ✕ hides the line again and ✓ moves the stop loss there.
  3. Confirm in the dialog.

Open them with ✎ on the chart, or with the gear icon in the header → Move to break-even.

  • Enable move to break-even: shows or hides the BE box on the chart (on by default).
  • Stop at: where the stop loss goes.
Stop at Fees covered
Real cost (default) the fee you actually paid when opening the position (maker, taker or a mix, at your account’s rate) plus the taker fee on exit, because the break-even stop always closes with a market order
Entry price none: exactly the entry price, so a stop-out closes slightly negative by the fees paid

Break-even covers the trading fees of this position only. Funding payments and profits from partial closes are not included, and a stop-market order can fill slightly worse than its trigger price when the market moves fast.

break-even-price
Long: Entry × (1 + entry fee) ÷ (1 − exit fee)
Short: Entry × (1 − entry fee) ÷ (1 + exit fee)

The price is rounded away from the entry, so the fees stay covered.

  • It only works while the position is in profit (the mark price is past the break-even price). Otherwise the stop would trigger at once.
  • All stop losses the position already has, full-position and partial, are moved to break-even, so no old stop stays behind. If part of the position has no stop loss yet, one is added for that part. Take profits stay as they are.
  • Like every stop loss, it triggers on the mark price and executes as a market order. In fast markets the fill can be slightly worse than the break-even price.
