Limit
Buy or sell at your price or better.
A limit order buys or sells at your price or better. It waits in the order book until it is filled or you cancel it.
- Buying: the order fills at your price or lower.
- Selling: the order fills at your price or higher.
A limit order below the current price (buy) or above it (sell) rests in the book and pays the lower maker fee when it fills. A limit order at or beyond the other side’s best price fills right away and pays the taker fee.
Place one
Section titled “Place one”- Choose Limit and Buy or Sell.
- Enter the price, or let BBO / Mid fill it in (below).
- Enter the quantity or the order size in USDC, or use the slider.
- Optional: TP/SL, order options such as Post only or Reduce only.
- Click Buy / Long or Sell / Short.
Your order appears in the Pending tab and as a line on the chart. Drag the line to change the price, or edit it in Pending.
BBO and Mid: set the price for you
Section titled “BBO and Mid: set the price for you”Two helpers next to the price field. First the two prices they use:
- Bid: the highest price someone currently wants to buy at (green side of the order book).
- Ask: the lowest price someone currently wants to sell at (red side).
Example: ETH bid 2,691.0, ask 2,691.5.
BBO (best bid / offer)
Section titled “BBO (best bid / offer)”Switch on BBO and the price field is locked: the order takes its price from the order book at the moment you place it. Choose which price in the menu next to it:
| Option | Price (buying ETH in the example) | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Counterparty 1 | The best price on the other side: the ask, 2,691.5 | Fills right away, like a market order but at a fixed price. You pay the taker fee. |
| Counterparty 5 | The 5th price level on the other side | A slightly worse price, but a larger order still fills right away. Taker fee. |
| Queue 1 | The best price on your own side: the bid, 2,691.0 | Your order waits in line until someone sells to you. You pay the lower maker fee. |
| Queue 5 | The 5th price level on your own side | Further from the market: a better price if the market comes to you, but the order may not fill at all. |
When selling, it is the other way round: Counterparty uses the bid, Queue the ask. BBO can’t be combined with TP/SL, Post only, IOC or FOK.
Mid fills in the price exactly between the best bid and the best ask once: 2,691.25 in the example. After that it is a normal limit price that you can change; it does not move with the market. Useful when the spread is wide: you offer a price in between and have a good chance to be filled first.
When the market runs away
Section titled “When the market runs away”A limit order stays where you put it. If the market moves away and you still want to be filled at the best price:
- click Chase next to the order in Pending: it moves once to the best bid (buy) or best ask (sell), or
- use a Chase Limit, which keeps following the best price until it fills.
